Deciding on a Crystal Trophy
Defined Tag: Crystal Trophy.
Although not as common as your traditional metal or composite trophies, crystal trophies are becoming more popular thanks to advancements in etching and engraving. Crystal trophies have a very classy appearance and can be used not just for sporting awards, but also things like employee awards, scholarships, and the like.
Traditional trophies are usually made of some type of metal. Like a plated piece of jewelry, the metal is generally shell, so that the overall trophy cost remains inexpensive. Unless, of course, we're talking about something a little higher in profile like the Vince Lombardi Trophy which is given out to the winner of the Super Bowl and is made of sterling silver. But sometimes the award given can be a crystal trophy. These are quite attractive. There are many different types of crystal that is used and each on has its own message of accomplishment.
Depending on what the budget is you can spend thirty to two hundred and fifty dollars for an optical crystal trophy. These are lead free, usually three inches thick and very much the flawless glass crystal one would expect to be used in lenses for cameras. These tend to be smaller in size. Then there is the trophy that is made of twenty four percent lead crystal. These say you did an excellent job, whether it is an employee award or for a sport even. They are very creative in their design. Although a few designs may cost only a hundred dollars you can expect to pay upwards of three hundred and as much as a thousand dollars for these lead crystal trophy designs.
They will be engraved in much the same way as other trophies are. You can have the name of the event the trophy is celebrating as well as the winner’s name. If the crystal trophy is of the cup design these can have a tint of color added to them to make them look even more beautiful for the prize winner and to make the engraving stand out more.
Sometimes a crystal trophy will be made with a wooden base. Walnut is often used but it can be any kind of wood the person buying the trophy desires. This gives the trophy an enhanced appearance and some people like it better this way. They also feel less like it will break. Crystal is very elegant but definitely more risky for breakage and more expensive then a simply metal trophy though much less expensive then sterling.
Although breakage is a concern, most crystal trophies are much more durable than one might expect. And some are shaped regularly (like plaques or other rectangular-shaped item), making them quite sturdy during transportation and storage.
